Engineering Subject Centre - teaching award

Applications are being invited for the Engineering Subject Centre Teaching Award 2008. This award is given to an academic who has received positive feedback from students, whose colleague(s) recognise their contribution to enhancing student learning, or whose teaching methodologies serve this purpose.

PESL - Promoting Enhanced Student Learning

The University of Nottingham have developed a repository of video interviews and case studies. These resources are designed to inform the teaching process and to enhance learning. Topics covered include: plagiarism, student roles in small groups, gaining class attention and educational jargon explained.

MERLOT - peer reviewed materials arranged by subject category.
JORUM - range of materials arranged by categories (access restricted to UK FE and HE only).

Subject based
INTUTE - science, engineering and technology resources.
Higher Education Academy - Engineering Subject Centre - engineering resources for learning and teaching.
UK Centre for Materials Education - science and materials education resources.

Regional
Yourkshire and Humberside - YH Learning - educational resources for subject specialists (username and password required).
SCRAN - educational material and digital resources from cultural institutions in Scotland. Free access to the database of thumbnails and titles. Teachers in Scotland have full access to a range of copyright cleared resources and learning packs.

Others
British Universities Film and Video Council - Moving Image Gateway - catalogue of moving image websites reviewed by BUFVC's Information Service. Four broad subject areas are covered: Arts & Humanities, Bio-Medical, Social Sciences and Science & Technology.
TRILT - Television and Radio Index for Teaching and Learning - this resource is only available to BUFVC member institutions. A list of these can be found via the TRILT home page. Resources include UK tv and radio data on the web.
BBC Motion Gallery - BBC footage collection, production-ready footage to view and purchase.

Internet Archive

If you are look for historical collections in digital format try the Internet Archive. There are collections of images, texts and audio. The archive web page section of the site, The Wayback Machine, (http://www.archive.org/web/web.php) lets you enter the web address of a site, you then have access to any archives, arranged in date order.
